Look and
feel:
The Xolo Era 4K runs on the MediaTek MT6735P SoC, with its four CPU
cores clocked at 1GHz. It's a chip that we're used to seeing on budget
devices, and is known to offer decent entry-level performance. The Xolo Era 4K is understandably plastic in terms of material quality, and feels like any other low-cost phone. Handset is comfortable to hold. Weight with battery is 153 grams and dimensions are 74.29 x 151.39 x 7.38 (mm).
Memory, Storage and OS:
The 4K comes with 2GB RAM and 8GB
storage. On first boot you will get around 3GB to 4GB free space and 1.3GB free
RAM. You can set preferred install location to external SD card. OTG is supported.

Camera:
The Xolo Era 4K has an 8-megapixel primary camera with LED flash, and
a 5-megapixel front camera. The rear camera records video at up to 720p, while
the one in front can record video at up to 480p. A handful of picture modes are
present, including multi-angle view, live photo, motion track and panorama.
There is also an HDR mode, as well as a QR scanner built into the app itself. The
camera app appears a bit cluttered, but is easy to use. All functions are easy
to reach, and recording video is a one-step procedure. The Settings menu gives
you access to manual controls, self-timer, resolution settings and more, and
interestingly, you also have the option to mute the audio while recording
video, by disabling the microphone. The main screen lets you control the flash,
switch cameras, toggle HDR, and choose quick-capture modes such as Smile and
V-symbol. There's a lot you can do with this phone's cameras for the price, and
that's a good thing.
Design:
Power and volume buttons are on the right side,
audio jack and secondary mic is on the top and at the bottom there is the
primary mic and micro USB port. This is a dual SIM handset – SIM slot 1 and SIM
slot 2 are micro SIM slots with 4G support and there is a separate micro SD
card slot. There is LED notification but the light is quite dim hard to
notice. Era 4K is loaded with 3 sensors – light, accelerometer and proximity. It's available in
two colours: white and blue.
Specifications and software:
Android 5.1 powers the
phone, with the standard Google Now launcher. This will appeal to a lot of
users, because of the simplicity and ease of use that Google's stock launcher
offers. There are of course some minor changes in the settings and menus, but
the system is essentially a near-stock version of Android Lollipop.
Performance:
This
handset is powered by MediaTek MT6735 quad
core processor clocked at 1GHz coupled with Mal T720 GPU. I did find the
handset lagging occasionally, you will notice it more when multi tasking. There is no heating issue at all with this device.
Battery:
The main attraction is the 4000 mAh
non-removable battery. Battery backup is very good you can expect 7 to 11 hours
of continuous moderate to heavy usage on a single charge. It can be recharged in 3 Hours approximately.
Verdict
This is powerful performer with good budget. Go for it if you want an
entry level mobile with heavy battery backup.
